another truck. the driver of that truck died. the wife of a man who was brutally attacked near eastern market is speaking out about the incident. thomas nosslin was jumped last month. three men attacked him, stole his iphone, and savagely beat him. the men robbed three other people later that night, but police caught and arrested him for those robberies. police found four phones when they arrested the men. one of the phones belonged to maslin, but only a few days ago police connected them to the attack. >> i'm really grateful for the hard work to the police department and the detectives. they're incredible, and they don't get a lot of credit. i want to recognize everything they've done to bring justice to our case. >> maslin is still in the hospital recovering from brain injuries. thanks to a surprise and generous donation, nationals fans won't be stranded at the navy yard during the playoff run. metro announced it will remain

foreign policy. he'll speak by phone with prime minister benjamin netanyahu. president obama is not meeting with the prime minister during his trip to the u.s., but secretary of state hillary clinton did sit down with him yesterday. also yesterday, netanyahu urged the u.n. general assembly to draw a red line to stop iran from developing a nuclear weapon. he warned the world may only have until next summer to stop iran. the white house reiterated its commitment to stop iran from building a nuclear bomb. he says he stands behind netanyahu on this issue. romney hopes to focus on fund-raising tonight and bring in $7.5 million during events in the boston area. he spent last night campaigning in northern virginia. he met with veterans and their families in springfield. romney trails the president in virginia in recent polls. he hopes next week's first presidential debate will give him some momentum going forward. >> you don't have an opportunity with debates to talk about my vision with the country.

the president will talk about his. those who believe they want bigger government, more intrusive government, deficits as far as the eye can see will vote for him. those who think we should encourage economic growth, promote small business, and create more jobs will vote for me. >> the first debate will take place next wednesday night in denver. president obama is urging patients when it comes to this country's economic recovery. he spoke of what he calls an economic patriotism during a rally yesterday in virginia beach. >> an economic patriotism rooted in the belief that growing our economy begins with a strong and thriving middle class. i won't pretend that getting there is easy. the truth is it's going to take a few more years to solve challenges that were building up over decades, but i want everybody here to understand our problems can be solved. our challenges will be met. >> the president will hold

campaign events here in washington. pick up the pace. that's d.c. council mayor marion berry's demand to council members investigating the 2010 campaign of vincent gray. he also accused prosecutors of dragging out their investigations without getting indictments. three former aides have already pled guilty as a result of a probe into the campaign. authorities looking to find a suspect associated with a murder case. officers believe 42-year-old anthony kaglianetti of woodbridge killed a man in new york last week. police say the two knew each other but would not release a possible motive for the attack. taglianetti isonsidered armed and dangerous. a man faces jail after he admits he tried to extort money from robert griffin iii.

he contacted rg3's agents earlier this year and said he had information that would damage his reputation and wanted $1 million in exchange for his silence. police arrested hurd. he pled guilty to extortion charges and will be arrested in november. starting today, d.c. police will relaunch their breath alcohol test after a two-year hiatus. trained officers will use calibrated meters to test drivers' blood alcohol content. d.c. police stopped that program two years ago when a contractor found the machines were not working properly. on top of the new meters, officers will still continue to do the standard field sobriety tests. if you're planning to take metro this weekend, expect some delays. starting tonight, crews will be working on track improvements on 4 of the 5 lines. on the red line, trains will be single tracks between nomo gallaudet and fort totten.

buses will replace orange lines between the vienna and east falls church line. and on the green line between southern avenue and branch avenue. all that work expected to wrap up before monday morning's commute. nfl referees are back on the job. the refs received a standing ovation before they took the field in the ravens-bengals game in baltimore. it was the first time since the officials union reached a new agreement on the contract. players and fans were upset with the referees' performance the first three weeks of the season. commissioner goodell apologized to fans for the lockout. >> we're sorry to bring the fans through that. we're sorry to bring the general public through that. that's, unfortunately, part of labor management disputes. >> the referees union plans on voting tooday and tomorrow on te labor deal. this will give you a sense how controversial those calls were. one vegas sportsbook is offering refunds to customers who bet on the packers-seahawks game.

i'm melissa mollet at the live desk with breaking news. at least 12 police officers have been killed at clashes in a prison a few hours north of baghdad. according to a ministry official, they took over after setting off car bombs at the gates on thursday. more than 80 prisoners escaped. the prison has been retaken. at the live desk, melissa mollet, news 4. authorities will take soil samples at an eastern michigan home in the hopes of finding the body of jimmy hoffa. a man told police he saw men burying a body in the backyard on the same day hoffa was discovered missing. tests show the ground has been disturbed. hoffa was believed to be involved with the mob at the time of his disturbance.

today police will try to find out what sparked a shooting in a sign business. i man walked in, killed four people, injured four others before killing himself. police don't know if the man worked for that business, and they're looking for a motive behind the shooting. 3 of the 4 people injured are in critical condition. all eyes will be on aurora as documents in the case of theater shooting suspect james holmes will be made public. the unsealed documents will provide new details and insight into the deadly theater shooting two months ago. holmes is accused of killing 12 and injuring 58 during a midnight screening of "the dark knight rises." he's charged with 152 different counts in the attack. a man behind an anti-islam video that inflamed parts of the middle east will remain behind bars. a judge determined nakoula basseley will remain behind bars. anger erupted in the middle east around a 12-minute trailer of a

film "innocence of muslims." a number of actors and actresses in the film say they were duped. they were hired for a film about ancient egyptians. attacks on the u.s. consulate in libya involved a small number of militants from north africa. four americans, including the u.s. ambassador to libya, were killed in that attack. now we're hearing from the family of d.c. woman whose body was found 11 years after she disappeared. a truck driver spotted her remains in a wooded area off of i-95. the 33-year-old was a mother of three girls. her family reported her missing in july of 2006 after she was last seen in d.c. they say they are devastated. >> my heart aches. i feel like a piece of my life is gone.

and it can never be replaced. >> police say they suspect foul play in this death, but they have not said how this woman died. demonstrators are demanding fannie mae put an end to eviction and foreclosures. police arrested several protesters who blocked traffic on wisconsin avenue in front of fannie mae's headquarters yesterday. executives from the company later met with demonstrators. they say they're focused on helping homeowners who are struggling to hold on to their homes. and this is what police found in one culpeper, virginia home. they say they found more than 100 marijuana plants growing in james barry's basement. the drugs have a street value of about $300,000. officers say the house was rigged to hide the plants. there was even a trap door leading from the main home to the basement. this is the largest grow house operation ever busted in culpeper. d.c. police and fire officials are trying to figure out who defaced a picture of the district's fire chief. somebody drew a mustache on a photograph of chief kenneth

ellerbe and flipped the picture upside down. the vandalism happened at engine 10 on florida avenue. police came and dusted for fingerprints and filed an official report. news 4 has obtained audio of two fire officials demanding to know who vandalized the picture and threatening criminal charges against them. >> the reason i asked who handled the picture is because there are going to be some charges. at that point, whatever the fire chief decides to do, because at that point you're at his mercy. >> news 4 talked to chief ellerbe about the mustache situation. he says he considers the case officially closed and that the fire department has more pressing issues to deal with. today d.c. mayor vincent gray will help unveil plans for the new ballou senior high school. it will be built on the site of the current school in northeast washington. the old school will be torn down once the new school is finished. the first phase will be finished in 2014 with a final phase in
